The Board for Certification of Genealogists extends its congratulations to Board-certified genealogist Darcie Hind Posz of Washington, D.C. on her election as a Fellow of the American Society of Genealogists (ASG) at the society’s annual meeting on 28 October 2023. She is the society’s 173rd fellow. The ASG, founded in 1940 and limited to fifty life-time members, promotes the highest standards of genealogical publishing and scholarship.

Election to the ASG is based on “the quality of a genealogist’s published work. Emphasis is upon compiled genealogies and published works that demonstrate an ability to use primary source material; to evaluate and analyze data; to properly document evidence; and to reach sound, logical conclusions presented in a clear and proper manner.”[1]

As explained on the ASG web site, “Ms. Posz, a Certified Genealogist, has worked professionally as a librarian, genealogist, or researcher for private hereditary societies and the federal government, including the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Bureau of Indian Affairs (U.S. Department of the Interior), and, currently, the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (U. S. Department of Defense). She has balanced professional research employment with a tireless record of service to scholarly genealogical organizations including the Board for Certification of Genealogists, National Genealogical Society, Genealogical Institute on Federal Records (GenFed), and Association of Professional Genealogists.

“As a genealogical writer, Ms. Posz has, to date, published two books and dozens of articles in national and specialized genealogical journals. Not only are her publications substantial in quantity and quality, but they cover an unusually wide demographic, geographical, and methodological range. Ms. Posz is expanding our acquaintance with the great breadth of American genealogy, and doing so in style.”[2]

Our heartfelt congratulations to Darcie Hind Posz, CG®, FASG!
