My name is Michael S. Ramage, J.D., Certified GenealogistSM. I am a full-time, professional genealogist located in the Philadelphia suburbs. I engage in genealogical consulting, research and writing, including missing and unknown heir research, consulting and expert testimony.

I have been a Board-certified genealogist since 2002 and currently serve the Board as V. P. and a trustee. The vice president is responsible for maintaining the BCG policy manual and performs other duties assigned by the president, Board, or executive committee. In addition, the BCG vice president performs the duties of the president in the absence of the latter.

My first career was as an attorney engaged mostly in litigation, real estate, estates and trusts law. When I considered changing careers, professional genealogy seemed to be the perfect fit since it was already a personal passion. My three-year plan to migrate from the law to professional genealogy included attempting to become a Board-certified genealogist. I felt this was necessary to convince myself, as well as others, that I understood the standards as given in The BCG Genealogical Standards Manual, not just legal standards. What I discovered was the great wisdom that the drafters of these standards gave to all of us genealogists and I continuously strive to understand and apply those standards to all of the genealogy work that I do. I hope you all will do the same.

I look forward to blogging with you all.
