by Karen Stanbary, CG®, CGG®
Tuesday, October 20, 2026, 8:00 p.m. (EDT)
Karen will illustrate the genetic confirmation of a Mexican ancestral line that goes back four generations to a small town in Guanajuato, Mexico. Integration of evidence from DNA tests and original records meets the Genealogical Proof Standard. Lecture in English using Mexican records.
Karen Stanbary, CG®, CGG®, lectures nationally on the use of DNA test results in genealogical problem-solving, always within the framework of the Genealogical Proof Standard. She is a Trustee for the Board for Certification of Genealogists and chairs that organization’s DNA Committee.
The lecture is presented in memory of BCG’s former trustee and vice president, Joy Reisinger, who began a lecture series for Family History Library staff during BCG’s fall board meetings. Joy was an advocate for open records access, a lecturer on research methods, and an expert on Canadian resources, especially those of Quebec.
