At the October 2023 board meeting, BCG’s trustees voted to make a number of changes to BCG fees. First of all, the Board decided to change the fees for initial applications and renewals to a tiered structure based on the number of credentials being applied for or maintained. Instead of $300 for each credential, the fee will be $300 for the first credential, $225 for the second additional credential, and $150 for the third additional credential. This change in application fees was made effective upon passage by the Trustees in October 2023.

Also, due to rising costs and the fact that BCG had not implemented a price increase in more than 10 years, the trustees voted to increase the annual maintenance fee for associates and retired associates. The associate renewal fee will increase from $75 to $80, and the retired associate renewal fee will increase from $37.50 to $40. There will also be an increase in the preliminary application and extension fees from $75 to $80. Changes in these fees will be effective when the next maintenance fees are due on July 1, 2024.

These fees help sustain BCG in its mission to foster public confidence in genealogy and promote an attainable, uniform standard of competence and ethics among genealogical practitioners. The credentials offered by BCG also bring value to you as they are respected and sought after by clients. And the credentials, on a personal level, also bring you the knowledge and satisfaction that your work meets standards, giving it enduring value.
